Registration
If you have not previously registered, you will need to register before submitting an application. If you are submitting an online application, you will need to register online. If you are submitting a paper application you will need to complete the Group Registration Form or the Individual Registration Form as well. *Applicants to the Lottery Individuals with Disabilities Committee do not need to complete a separate registration form as this is contained within the Committee’s application form.
COGS
The Community Organisation Grants Scheme (COGS) is a community based grant-making scheme, providing grants to non-profit community-owned and community-driven organisations that provide social services and projects to people from one or more of the COGS priority sectors. Funding decisions are made by local distribution committees (LDCs) made up of people elected by the community.* * * When to Apply? Applications open on 1 June and close on the last Friday of July each year.
NOTE: All requested amounts for 2010 COGS grants must be based on the new 15% GST rate.

Lottery Community
This committee makes grants to encourage or enable community self-reliance, capacity building and stability, or opportunities for social, civil or cultural participation and reducing or overcoming barriers to such participation. Grants are made to create benefits for New Zealand communities. Lottery Community consists of 11 regional committees and one national committee. Funding is available for projects, activities, resources or services that have a community/social service focus, for example developmental or preventative projects, welfare and support services, or projects that help improve the wellbeing of people in the community.

Lottery Community Facilities Fund
The Lottery Community Facilities Fund (LCFF) makes grants to organisations for projects to build or improve community facilities. Funding is provided for community facilities that support participation in community activities and social interaction, to foster cohesion and strengthen communities. The Fund's main emphasis is support for facilities open to use by the wider community or that can be used for a range of services and activities.

Lottery Community Sector Research
The Lottery Community Sector Research Fund considers applications from community organisations to carry out research and/or evaluation projects. Community organisations can either undertake projects independently or in partnership with a suitable provider. Eligible projects must help community organisations develop their research and evaluation skills. Preference will be given to applications that identify community needs and help increase community participation, cooperation and understanding. The application process for the Lottery Community Sector Research Fund has two stages. Applications to have your Research Idea considered close at 4 pm on Friday, 7 May 2010. Applicants whose Research Ideas are selected by the Committee will be invited to submit a Full Research Proposal. The requirements for this are set out in the Lottery Community Sector Research Information Sheet which can be downloaded here. Lottery Health Research makes grants for non-profit making good quality basic and applied research relating especially to common human health problems considered to be of major significance to the New Zealand Community. The committee is also interested in research into the prevention and management of the common problems and disorders which lead to deterioration of normal health. This committee makes grants for the capital costs of the conservation, restoration and development of marae facilities, particularly wharenui, wharekai and wharepaku facilities.

Lottery Minister's Discretionary Fund
The Minister's Discretionary Fund (MDF) accepts applications from individuals and groups for community projects that are not the responsibility of the Lottery distribution committees. If a project falls within a Lottery distribution committees' sector of responsibility, but the committee has a policy that this project will not be funded, this does not make the application eligible for a grant from the Minister's Discretionary Fund.

Lottery Outdoor Safety
This committee provides funding to major outdoor safety and water safety groups, including their branches and affiliates, and other national and regional groups that have outdoor safety or water safety as their main purpose.

Lottery Significant Projects Fund

The Lottery Grants Board has decided that there will be no funding round for the Lottery Significant Projects Fund in 2010/11. No applications will be accepted.
The Board will decide on any future funding rounds in July 2011.
The following Lottery committees also consider applications for capital projects: The Lottery Environment and Heritage Committee and the Lottery Community Facilities Committee; which are open for applications.
